Analyst pathway

The Intelligence Analyst and Technical Analyst pathways consists of three work placements and a series of courses over twelve months. These placements and courses provide exposure and experience in a variety of work areas across the organisation to ensure you gain a thorough perspective of organisational capability, goals and objectives.

You will receive comprehensive, specialised training to develop the technical capabilities that allow you to work in multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems that others cannot solve. You will undertake sophisticated intelligence or technical analysis, producing vital intelligence and security information for the Australian Government.

As an Intelligence Analyst , you may be involved in:

  • analysis of foreign signals intelligence
  • preparation of short-term or long-term information reports to government
  • translating foreign language material.

As a Technical Analyst, you may be involved in:

  • analysis of foreign signals intelligence
  • analysis of communication systems
  • investigating large and complex data sets
  • developing new methods of analysing and exploiting data for intelligence or information security purposes
  • solving cryptological problems using advanced mathematical concepts
  • developing capabilities to perform your analysis using software development skills.
